Like the reigning champion and his compatriot, Justin Rose, Luke Donald will be targeting to lift the most wanted trophy for a 2nd time, having winning when the event took place at the Castle Stuart Golf Links in the year 2011.
That magnificent performance – he moved home by 4 shots thanks to a closing round of sixty three – took Donald his 6th win on The European Tour and, having won BMW PGA Championship for a 2nd time in the year 2013, the thirty seven year old would look for an 8th Tour title when he rigs Gullane’s Championship course – a complex of No.1 and No.2 – from 9th July to 12th July.
Luke boasts a magnificent record in the £3.25 million event – he ended in the Top-5 in each of his 1st three appearances, before snatching a win at his 4th attempt – and the former world No 1 is really influenced to carry on that run as well as sharpen his game before 144th Open Championship that takes place the following week on Old Course at St Andrews.
He told that he has tended to do well in Scottish Open whenever he has played the event in the past, so that he is obviously be keen to carry on that good run this year. He has got the scope to play Gullane last year and really relished it. He is looking forward to going back and teeing it up competitively.
